"A prevent defense prevents you from winning"

My dad coached football for years.

He was a defensive coordinator and spent his career figuring out how to stop the other team from scoring.

But there is one defense he despises above all others…

The prevent defense.

If we're watching a close game together in the fourth quarter, he will, without fail, turn to me and say:

"A prevent defense prevents you from winning."

I've heard it over 100 times in my life. I still chuckle every time. But I also can't unhear it anymore.

Because I see it everywhere now. Not just on the field. In life. In business. In the mirror on the days I'm not proud of.

Here's what a prevent defense looks like in football…

Your team has a lead. The clock is winding down. Instead of continuing to do the things that got you the lead (attacking, pressing, moving forward), you pull back. You stop attacking. You play not to lose instead of playing to win.

You go from directing the game to reacting to it.

And what happens almost every time?

The other team marches right down the field. The lead evaporates. The game slips away.

My dad saw it so many times over his coaching career that it became almost a law to him. Not a tendency. A law.

Playing prevent defense prevents you from winning.

I work with Entrepreneur Dads. And the more of them I talk to, the more I see the same pattern.

The day starts with intention. A plan. Energy. Things to attack.

Then something comes in. A fire to put out. An unexpected call. The morning routine gets skipped. The workout gets pushed. The important project gets buried under the urgent one.

By noon the day has been hijacked.

By evening the battery is drained. The patience is gone. The presence isn't there, not for the work, not for the wife, not for the kids.

He reaches the end of the week feeling tired and rundown. Like he ran hard but got nowhere. Like he reacted to everything and directed nothing.

That's the prevent defense.

Not lazy. Not careless. Just reactive. On his heels. Playing not to lose instead of playing to win.

And just like on the field, it costs him.

My dad spent decades studying what it takes to stop that from happening on a football field. I've spent years figuring out what it takes to stop it from happening in a man's business and life.

What I've found is that it comes down to one thing: you need a system for attacking the day before the day attacks you.

Not a motivational practice. Not a mindset shift. A repeatable, trusted system that tells you exactly what you're attacking when you wake up, and keeps you moving forward with precision instead of reacting with chaos.

The guys I work with who have this don't just get more done.

They train consistently. They show up at home charged instead of depleted. They go to bed knowing they won the day, not just survived it.

That feeling of winning the day (executing the right work, keeping the body in shape, coming home present and turned on for the people who matter most) isn't luck.

It's a system. It's learnable. And it's called The Daily Attack Plan™.

If you want a repeatable, trusted, battle-tested system for planning and executing your days as an Entrepreneur Dad, one that has you waking up every morning knowing exactly what you're attacking and ending every night knowing you won…

Then join me next Tuesday, November 3rd, for the Daily Attack Plan Workshop.

I'll give you the exact system and structure my clients and I use to execute what matters most, every single day. Waking up locked in, getting our most important work done before noon, and making sure nothing slips through the cracks.

Today is the last day to get a ticket before registration closes at midnight tonight.

You get the replay and resources even if you can't make it live.

There's a common misbelief that I've found robs men of their ability to consistently execute at an elite level. And it came up during my Daily Attack Plan workshop Tuesday when I challenged one of the guys to stop using the word "hopefully." He'd said something along the lines of, "I'm hopefully in a transition season." And I stopped him. Why hopefully? You're either transitioning or you're not. You've either made the commitment or you haven't. He pushed back, and rightfully so. He explained...

Someone asked me the other day why I'm not posting on social media anymore. Instagram specifically, since that's where I've historically been most active. My answer was pretty simple: I don't work with short-form people, so I don't really make short-form content. A rather contrarian position these days, considering just about everyone seems to be competing for three to five seconds of your attention. Trying to stop your scroll, hijack your dopamine, and keep you entertained long enough to get...

It has recently been brought to my attention that I am something of a savant. A true trailblazer. A man whose genius deserves to be mentioned in the same breath as Da Vinci and Einstein. And for what, you may ask? Walking. You see, I tend to be a little late to social media trends because I don't spend much time on those platforms. But I recently learned about a sensation that's been making the rounds on TikTok among Gen Zers. It's called silent walking. And get this. Here's how it works. You...
